This is something that has been getting to me for awhile now, and it seems to be happening more and more often.

Let me start off the post by saying I am not sexist, nor am I a misogynist. I too wish for equal rights between men and women.
Firstly, a lot of people may be familiar with this topic, and a lot of people may have heard the phrase "All feminists are just men haters". This is incorrect, I know there are feminists out there who truly do want equal rights.

For those that don't know, the definition of feminism is something along the lines of: "A collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women."

The key word there being equal.

But lately I've been seeing a lot of so called 'feminists', who are definitely aren't advocates for equality.

A great deal of them are belittling men, contradicting themselves, being abusive, and being blatantly sexist.
An example of this would be something I read on Twitter yesterday. It was two feminists (I know they are passionate feminists because I follow them both) having a conversation about something. One of them said "Someone mansplained it to me" to which the other replied "I hate mansplaining" When I questioned what it meant I was told "a man condescendingly explaining something to female listeners".

How is this not sexist? Grouping men into a category like that. If it were a male to say "womensplained" and they saw it, it would be a completely different scenario. Now i'm not writing this post because I saw that and it made me butthurt, indeed I do see things like that ALL THE TIME. I just couldn't believe that two 'equal rights advocates' would say something like that. It just made me even more aware of the terrible double standards that exist in today's society.

Another example would be job positions. Many feminists are annoyed because high-end roles such as CEO are male dominated. Why don't they complain about other male-dominated jobs, such as garbage men? The point I'm trying to make here is, a lot of feminists aren't really feminists, they want female superiority. I'm not saying all, but some.

It's all down to how people perceive feminism. I think the people you're talking about are bad feminists, shouldn't really call people that but they just give a bad name to the cause.

The movement is about equality for both men and women on various issues such as how both sexes are portrayed in media and how that affects our society.
For example:

There is simply no need for this sexualization in this ad. Like what the hell, how is this acceptable in our society. Why can't we have the guy in briefs with his top un-done showing his bulge? ada)

Here are a few more examples of this in media - just food-for-thought:

WHY IS SHE NAEKD?! WHAT POSSIBLE REASON for this!>>!>!/1/?!?.1.4/1?!?

In regards to the women complaining there are not many women CEO etc, sure in an ideal world it would be great to have both genders equally in charge of companies/in parliament. We have a long way to go. One thing is for sure, women are still not really paid the same as men.

Everyone circle-jerks about feminism but the thing is women only got the 94-years ago (in the UK anyway) whereas men have pretty much been in control of everything. Getting the vote is great but as a society we have a whole lot further to go when it comes to perfect equality.

All you can do is try to argue with the type of people you have mentioned and make them get more aligned with an actual equality movement instead of just whining. I think it's important to call them out on this garbage so they don't spread their dumb ideologies with other people. Hopefully you can change their minds.
