My Xbox Slim just randomly froze a few days ago whilst playing Advanced Warfare campaign, I immediately turned it off and back on again. After turning it on it loads with a green light for a few seconds and then changed to a solid red light.

I watched a youtube video which directed me to cheat the heat sink to see if it had dried out. It had, so I replaced it with fresh thermal compound, heat sink paste, whatever.

I then tried to do the 'reset' by leaving the fan unattached and letting it overheat and turn off. Although, I've learned that the xbox now turns itself off before it actually overheats. Is this true?

If so, what else can I do? Or is there any other way to do the reset? Really need this fixed.

Thank you!
