what are the steps needed, i know about the imei stuff just what do i need to do after i request for an unlock and all those steps

Once you request that your carrier unlock it or you purchase a factory unlock all you need to do is either restore your iPhone or put in the foreign SIM card and reactivate it then it will be unlocked.
