My iPhone 5 is in recovery mode. Is there anyway I can get it to work without restoring it?
Thanks

You could try updating it instead of restoring if it gives you that option.

But since there is no program like iReb for the iPhone 5 and iOS 7+ restoring is your only option unless its going into recovery mode because the home button is jammed or something.

Basically, I turned off my phone earlier as it would not load any apps thinking if I restart my phone it will work now. However, it then would not turn back on so I have now put it in recovery/dfu mode and I get an option to restore, although I do not want to lose my photos, etc.

Try holding the home and power button until it reboots. If that doesn't work restoring is your only option to get the phone working again.

If you have any back ups with either iCloud or iTunes you'll be given the option to restore from a backup once you get it up and running again. Any new data after those back ups will be lost though.

Tried that, but it went back to the infinite loop I keep on experiencing:(

I think the only way to get out of this is restoring it

Try downloading TinyUmbrella - Right click on your device (plugged in via USB connection) and click exit recovery mode
