There's a difference between that kind of faith and religious faith.
There are constructs around scientific work and vaccination development which allow us to know that the scientists who are working on them are educated in their field. It's less about faith and trust than it is about simple logic and knowing that for certain people to keep their jobs and avoid lawsuits they have to do it correctly which doesn't involve creating a vaccine which has horrible side effects.
The empirical evidence of why a vaccine works and how they are made are also available to people. Just because the majority of people don't understand it doesn't mean that the ones who do are wrong or that we need to have faith in them to be right.
We can educate ourselves beyond the need for faith in other beings, God doesn't allow the religious to do that.

A deity, on the other hand has numerous ancient texts all purporting to know the one true God, no empirical evidence to back up his existence and easily refutable arguments, like the ones put forward by Thomas Aquinas, for his existence.

It's not analogous at all to say that Religious faith is like the faith that people put in doctors or scientists.

Im_Larry wrote I am an atheist. I respect people who do believe in god though. It's just that if god were real ( Not saying he's not ) we would have found evidence by now don't ya think! Anyways, i can't prove he's fake but i can't prove he's real either. In other words, i don't believe in god.

I know what you're talking about, but sadly God doesn't choose to reveal himself so openly. It's more about faith. Whenever I was down and was about to give up on God, I prayed just for a sign to know he was real. Something only I would know that would be a true sign. My prayer came true and ever since I've been a Christian. He won't always prove Himself right there and right then. God is a bit tricky to understand sometimes. But it's all about faith. Much like everyone puts faith in science. Even Christians put faith in science. How do we know what scientists are saying is really true or not? Through faith. The average person doesn't know a whole lot about science and can't fully explain how the world works and why it works that way. So we put our faith in scientists to figure out the hard questions in life. But as you said I can't prove God is real and I can't prove He's fake. It's all about faith.
Scientists show proof of their claims. It doesn't take faith. Maybe you can help me understand something: Faith by definition is believing without proof and You and other Christians see faith as a good thing. Why do you see believing without proof as a good thing? why would people be proud to have faith?

You didn't get my first part of what I was saying. I probably didn't word it right. This might be a really bad example but "Doctors come out with an Ebola vaccination. People have faith in these scientists that they work and that they won't have any horrible side effects." Again it wasn't the greatest example. And for your question about faith. In my mind faith may or may not be a positive or a negative. And not only Christians have faith. Atheists can have faith. Faith doesn't always have to tie back to religion. Much like the common "trust fall". I have faith that you will catch me. I also don't always need proof to believe in something.
Also you don't need faith that the vaccine would work. Some people have faith that it will work for THEM. The vaccines are tested and all that to make sure they work before they ever give them to the public but obviously sometimes they don't work for everybody. You don't need faith in the science itself

Nope. I feel atheism may be just as silly (for the lack of a better word) as theism. You can't prove any more than you can disprove. This is why I remain agnostic.

I am. I dont really believe in anything. Nothing in my life has really "showed proof" and "God" or a "God" exists. That's just what i think.

I personally don't like Atheism, but I don't have a problem with anyone who is until I'm given a reason. I may be religious, but it doesn't give me the right to hate someone based on their religion because everyone is the same, I mean, you can't really hate me for being religious.

As a child and teenager I was taught religion (Christianity). And as an Adult I have chosen to be an Atheist due to what I have witnessed on a wider scope. They teach religion as if it is good morally and tell you all the nice stories from the bible about people helping each other and God creating the world blah blah blah. One just has to look at the world to realise that religion is just a corrupt industry which causes war and famine and even more hatred.

These are my views and out of respect for Casca I will not go into detail because I could go on for hours plus it could get messy.

Damn that font is disgusting my apologies

Atheism isn't a religion.

- We don't believe in a deity or omnipotent controlling power, so the first definition doesn't fit.
- Atheists don't worship anything collectively, some may be more inclined to science, some more inclined to philosophy, some who don't really care about the reasoning, so the second definition doesn't fit.
- Not all atheists are immensely devoted to atheism, not all spend their days thinking about their atheism or debating about it, so the third definition doesn't fit.
