So when I built my computer for some reason I installed windows 7 Home Premium. Dunno why. But anyways I have a friend that has a windows 7 ultimate 64 bit install disc so could I just use his install key to upgrade to ultimate version because I have 32 GB of ram but Home premium is locked at 16 max?

Hey there!

Windows Home Premium is indeed limited to 16GB of RAM. Windows Ultimate has a limit of 192GB, so I definitely recommend switching to Windows Ultimate.
