If you're willing to pay a little extra, Turtle Beach PX22s are $80 new and are much better than the x12s. I really suggest them if you'll pay the extra few dollars.

Personally, I've had a very pleasant experience with the Seinnheiser G4ME Zero Black. Not only do they offer extreme clarity in gaming and a very high quality microphone, they're optimal for listening to music. Take a peek [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

I had the same pair of x12s for 5 years so if you are on a lower budget get those. They're reliable and as long as you don't end up stepping on them too many times they last FOREVER.

Man i know its not in your price range but I personally have had TB's tritons and Astros and the Astros A40 are the best Ive ever had, I will never go back to any others. Its completely worth the extra money!

Astros have bad mics. I wouldn't get them. Yes, they do have good headphones, but Turtle Beaches have both, if you take care of them, the wired ones will last awhile. Just make sure to unplug the USB every time you don't use it. I've had my PX22s for over a year, getting a "buggy" headset, as most people said after receiving it shortly after release, it's been a reliable headset.

My suggestion would be to stick with wired, but take good care of it and unplug USB.
x12s last about a year or so and start getting bad.
Don't get Astros, as you'll sound terrible on the mic.
Pay a little more and get better quality. I've always gotten mics at the $80 range and they seem to last a lot longer than any other mics I've had.

EDIT: Here's a link to the headset.
