Well technically your ranking up , if u plug out your internet connection -> go to dashboard -> start halo reach again without internet connection it will say what lvl you really are i'm Commander Grade 1 in offline mode

You will still earn credits but your guy will stay lt. colonel gr. 3. Though bungie did say that these credits are going towards your next rank so when the cap is lifted you could go up multiple ranks instantly depending on how many credits you get.

It is being raised in 1-2 months and your credits you earn now carry over after the rank cap is lifted. To see what rank you will be you have to unplugg your ethernet or wireless adapter and then go on reach what it shows is what yo will be

doing the challenge/reset exploit...

wouldn't recommend it though, i just got CR banned again for the second time. so no more halo for two weeks.
