The cost will not justify the performance increase.

^Seconded. 3770 is still a great CPU and overclocking is pretty over-rated IMHO. Skylake is due to release late 2015, so I'd wait for that and upgrade to DDR4 with an SL i7.

This is gonna be the 3rd no not worth it. Performance gain is not worth the price of replacing the CPU and mobo.

I have decided to wait to see what new processors will be coming out and buy one next year, I do have a another question to ask though, once the new Skylake architecture is revealed will their be the need for a new chipset or will they support Z97/x99?

Skylake will not be LGA1150, so current 8 and 9 series motherboards(H81, B85, H87, H97, Z87, Z97) will not support Skylake CPU's. Skylake will support both DDR3 and DDR4 RAM, but a motherboard and CPU upgrade will be necessary regardless, so you'd be best of getting a DDR4 compatible motherboard with Skylake and moving forward, instead of sticking with DDR3. X99 chipset motherboards are for Haswell Enthusiast grade CPU's and will also, not support Skylake.

Broadwell CPU's will be LGA1150 and will be compatible with current 8 and 9 series motherboards, but won't be worth the upgrade IMHO, it's unlikely to be a huger performance gain and with Skylake due to release only half a year later or so, it'd be worth the wait.

I second Sanctyy i would definitely wait for the Skylake CPUs to hit the market.

So the CPU is not worth upgrading anytime soon you should wait. What are the rest of your specs? you could be due an upgrade for your GPU your seeing performance issues in games or even in other sections. Also list the power supply make and model(Found in the inside of your case with a sticker on the side of the PSU)
