So I just found out that my uncle is planning on buying a new car and he wants to give me his old car. I am very excited about this, but his old car is a standard. I just wanted to know how natural it becomes driving one once you learn how to.

My dad told me it was more fun than an automatic and that once you learn how to drive a standard you can do it without even thinking about it. Is this true?

It is like riding a bike. Not terribly hard to learn but once you got it that is it you don't even think about it.

I'm currently learning to drive I've done around 25 lessons I'm pretty much natural now and very close to becoming muscle memory, so yeah it does become "easy" but it will take time and practice.

Hi mate, I'm assuming by a standard car you mean a stick gear box car. I've recently passed my driving test in the UK in a manual car, and have since driven an automatic then switched back to manual.
It becomes very natural once you get the hang of it, and I'd say I probably prefer manual cars.
Hope this helps lad!

I got my full driving license when I was 17. I loved doing lessons. You get better at driving the more you do it; like everything really.

It all varies person to person on how easy you find it to drive a manual.

Personally, it took me about 10 hours of lessons to be fully comfortable driving without any pointers from an instructor.

You should definitely learn manual anyway, then you can drive any car.. It doesn't have to be an automatic.

I drive a standard car every day, and once you get used to it, its really not that difficult.
