First, I'll start with my favourite. Skalmold, an Icelandic Viking/Folk metal band that was born in August 2009.
Second, the Drone Metal band Sunn O))) that began creating their masterpieces in 1998, originating from Seattle.
Finally, the Death Metal band Dying Fetus from Maryland. Formed in 1991.
I'd post others; such as Aborted, Caliban and Mortician, but I won't for fear of having a Gigantic post.

Im heavily into the Thrash scene. One of many positives of living in Los Angeles is a lot of great bands come stop by at local venues.
Here's a song that that never gets old for me, it's from a local band.
