How to AWP -

1) Aim down sight
2) Locate the person you would like to shoot at
3) shoot
4) repeat until you kill him or you die.

Seriously though, AWPing isn't hard. If you are silver i'd recommend getting better with the AK-47/M4 and learning to control recoil etc. There are lots of helpful videos on Youtube.

It's easy to learn to AWP, just use the weapon & over time you will get better, Mastering the weapon & using it properly is a completely different story.

As said above, you are just starting out, I would recommend using the M4's/AK & getting better with those weapons, then move onto AWPing.

A few key points with the AWP that a lot of people either lack or refuse to do it, is first of all, patience. I can't tell you how many times when playing CS:GO, I see AWPers on a team, who sit in one spot for a few seconds, then do an unnecessary rotate because "the kills are over there." Another thing, is don't try to quick scope like CoD, a lot of new players do this, and that's understandable, but moving in CS:GO, actually affects your bullet placement, more so with the AWP. Yes, you can get a quickscope when walking around, same with a noscope, but it's so inconstant, it's not worth it unless as a last need resort where you know switching to your pistol, will get you killed before you can get a shot off. As others have said, you're going to need to practice with the AWP to get used to it. I would jump into Deathmatch, only use the AWP and practice on there for a little. I know DM is much different from comp, but this will still help you get better shot placements, practice flick shooting (quickly moving your scope when aimed in if someone peaks you,) where people peak and where you can peak and just gives you much more time with the AWP, without the risk of losing your rank due to trying practice with it on comp.
