As you've been told, Intel beats AMD. AM3+ is dead and with the 8350 being over 2 years old, it's out-dated. The G3258 has more and bettr upgrades. Xigyy can vouch that the G3258>FX 8350. The 8350 is a bad choice regardless, 8320 over 8350, Intel over AMD. You can get the i5-4440 for around $165, but if you want to overclock, get the G3258 and a better GPU, then upgrade to an i5/i7 when you have more money.

What makes the Pentium better? jw. Yea AMD 8350 is old but it has more than 2 cores and comes 4.0 GHz stock and can be overclocked to 4.8 GHz or so. The Pentium statistically doesn't seem like it would out preform the 8350.

GHz and cores doesn't necessarily make a better CPU. Intel CPU's have far superior performance per core than any of AMD FX series. Plus, you have far superior upgrade options. Unless something requires more than 2 cores, the G3258 will perform perfectly well. I've seen the G3258 OC'ed to 4.8GHz, just so you know. If anything you're doing beneefits from more cores, then an i5 or i7 would still be a better choice than any AMD CPU.

If you want the cores get a 4670k or something lol, just it's out of your price range. Cores don't really mean anything if you dont plan on running many utilities. If you want speed GHz means more and the Pentium can physically achieve a huge clock speed.

And yes I agree that it is good for gaming but not for productivity. I am currently watching a video comparing the Pentium to a i7 4770k and it is keeping up very very well.

Yep, and when you contrast that with a 200 pound price difference it's really great, the best bang for buck processor on the market.

AMD is better, go with them.

Thank you im now convinced that the Pentium is better and am looking forward to also saving money on a better CPU

Oh and if you want to compare the 4770k and the 8320 the 4770 only has 4 cores but has hyper threading which essentially imitates 8 cores and it's capability for overclocking is much higher. If a 49.99 pound cpu can keep up with that it must be good.

Short answer is no. You could overclock a little but it's not advised. If you could spend around 40 GBP you could get a cooler master seidon 120v water cooler. That would allow an overclock between 4 GHz and at the very highest 4.5 GHz (at a push)

Don't talk shit. People spend real money in this forum and if you tell them false information and they believe you, they could waste their hard earned money. If it's been proven that AMD beat Intel, link us to your source, prove it. Don't expect us to do it for you, back up your own argument.

OP-Overclocking on the G3258 with stock cooler is fine. You definitely don't need an aftermarket cooler to OC it but keep a close ye on temps. If it starts getting hot, invest in an aftermarket cooler. Though, I'd reccommend saving for an AIO cooler with at least a 240mm rad so that when, and if you upgrade to an i5/i7, you won't have to upgrade cooler too.
