Here is my final poster to encourage people to visit the city of New Orleans.

I had to do this poster in the style of Alan Kitching, so please take a look at his work online before posting.

Please leave feedback.

I saw the earlier topics you made with this and I don't quite understand what lead you to the final design.

The fleur de lis you have placed in there seems out of place (unless it has some significance to New Orleans I'm unaware of then I would understand). Looking over Alan Kitching work as instructed, mostly his work is very squared and aligned, not in all but most and I think you could incorporate this more as well as I feel the text you have talking about New Orleans seems weirdly placed around the 'O'. I think that also possibly making the other letters coloured may fit more to the style.

Having said this I think the texture you've used is rather fitting.

The fleur de lis is on the city flag of New Orleans, it originated from when the french settled there. Its is also a symbol for the New Orleans saints, which is the American football team. When designing this piece i tried to slightly overlay the letters. This is an effect that Kitching uses often. I would make the piece colourful, however in my research for this piece there was one piece of design by Kitching that particularly stood out and i took inspiration from it, thats why the text is mostly black. Thank you for the feedback! What is your opinion ? Is it effective ?

I definitely saw quite a few pieces of his where the letters are overlapped although not as much as where there are squared ones. But as far as being effective to the style my opinion is that it does fit with the style in aspects but I like I say before some areas for me could be different but this is maybe more down to preference and certainly not a right or wrong thing;P

Ok sorry if I sound mean

1. don't separate Orleans into Or Leans that's like separating my name into Cri Tical
2. If you are going to make the text that big there is no point in having the other text that is so small compared to the huge text.
3. If you are going to put informational text on a poster actually make it sound interesting. Don't keep copying and pasting the same thing over & over.
4. I know this is still a poster, but is it a poster that you would actually buy? When I think of posters I usually think of nice artwork that you would like to brag about. Not something that I might see at a museum or in a classroom.

Anyways that's my little spiel. I'm not trying to be/sound mean, but those are somethings you should consider when making a poster.

Thanks for the Feedback.

1. This poster is going to be A2. The text has got to be quite large. I thought that because Orleans has 2 syllables to have it split up in to two parts like that would be an effective piece of visual communication. Its designed the way you read it.

2. I don't want there to be too much body copy. I want to keep it small and compact. I don't it to take up too much room.

3. Yeah sorry, that will be changed. It was just like an example of Lorem ipsum to see how it would look.

4. This is a poster that i have designed for university. It would be used as an informative piece to make people aware that New Orleans has a lot to offer. And because of my designer i wanted to use just typography.

Do you think that the poster is effective ?

I like the positioning and colours of the Design but I would have tried to blend the big blocky text so that it looks a lot cleaner.

Apart from that, I like it dude.

Good job!
