I've done the fist of Crota mission to kill the blade of Crota about 35+ times and no luck , just a legendary engram. any idea of what I'm doing wrong??

My buddy got it yesterday. I don't have any tips but I can tell you what he did. He was playing patrol on earth and a hive ritual began. He killed them before they spawned the elite hive dude with the sword. One of the hive ended up dropping it.

I got it during my second Black Wax Idol (so after 10 minutes) because I heard it needs to be active to get the weapon, but I got my second Husk of the Pit without using a Black Wax Idol.
