Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but is there a way to gain a lot of followers on Instagram with legit people that also like your pictures?

If lots of people find your page internesting, cool or funny etc., you will gain popularity.
Instagram recently did a little deactivation on a bunch of inactive/spam accounts so if you're looking for real followers this might be good for you.

Like I said, just have cool shit and you should be good. I gaine around 413 followers in less than 5 months, just for being active and friendly all around.
