Hey, I just wanted to know if this YouTube channel art good for a start? I'll be improving it, but it's my first piece that I've made so far. Can some "experts" or something tell me if this is good, if not then tell me how I can improve it.

It is waaay to simple to be honest. Do you have photoshop? If so I would recommend looking up tutorials to enhance your skills then try your hand at it again and see what happens. I feel like the result would be 100% better.

It looks like you found a minecraft image on Google.
Then it looks like you made a black rectangle and wrote on top of it.

You really didn't do much, in fact, you could've done this in MS Paint.

Follow some tutorials and learn the program you're using.

Like Swak said, try to get a few more tools in your tool box from tutorials or what ever, then try again.

Doesn't look like you've really done anything here.
The color doesn't fit with what you're going for, either.

I'd suggest getting to know the program you use and just trying to make it more unique or 'nice'.
