I don't post my work often, but I felt like sharing something that I've done recently. This is an illustration of the Tomb Raider protagonist, Lara Croft. I created it for a double page spread in my gaming magazine, 'Power Up'. It was my first attempt at portraiture, and I decided to get it printed for my portfolio. The hair was a little challenging but I think it came out OK in the end. Perhaps it could do with some more work? I took it as an A2 print alongside my portfolio to my first university interview. They seemed to like it and I got offered a place on their course!
What do you guys think? - constructive criticism is appreciated as always.

Thanks for looking. In the near future I will share the full 'Power Up' editorial project. This is just one illustration of many in the magazine.

The hair came out quite well and it generally looks sweet, but there is one thing that bothers me. The neck seems incredibly flat compared to the rest of the image, id go back and give it subtle shading for the cylindrical effect.

That and it really could've done with something in the background or something the block colour kinda ruined it all for me.

@Peas - My first interview was at Northumbria University, and i'm attending interviews at other universities early next year. I'm applying to do Graphic Design.
@Zef - Thanks for your thoughts. The neck does look flat, which is something I didn't consider before! I'll add some shading and possibly re-print for my portfolio once it's improved.
@E-BOLAR - I guess the background is just preference really. I have the 'less is more' approach when designing. Would a background have any purpose, or add value? I thought not, and that something more detailed in the background may subtract attention from the subject. What would you like to see in the background to replace the block colour?

Looks really nice, seems like a lot of work put into it, but looking at it more closely the eyes seem to be a bit off, and not as fitting as everything else.
But it's pretty impressive.

I love the style of this.
The hair looks really great.
The only things I can point out are as Zef said about the neck.
And the face seems a bit rough to me.
Other than that I really like it.
