Okay so I got a Inspiron 15 3000 Series computer with Windows 8.1 already on it so I'm new to that but the problem is when I plug in my X12 Turtle Beaches to record in Audacity or FL Studio 11 Producer Edition it doesn't pick up my mic but I can listen through them just can't record. Any help would be very appreciated!!

Is the MIC jack plugged in properly aswell as the headphones jack?
Any software that came with the headset, that you need to configure it with?

Yes it just comes with a headphone jack and usb cable and they are both plugged in. It also has a pink jack which is recording but all my computer has is the headphone jack. Could this be the problem?

Yes that is the problem.
For the MIC to work the jack needs to be plugged in.
You should have a jack.
Are you on a desktop or laptop? The MIC port should be near the AUDIO port. And should be some kind of sign indicating the microphone. Also it will more than likely be colour coded
