They got hit with a 10k Botnet it took a big blow they should've been monitoring the servers though it could've been prevented

Doesn't matter how good the security is if you hit it with enough force it'll fall no matter what but more can be done on sonys part mainly but microsoft as well.

This - There is currently NO prevention against a DDoS attack like this. No prevention can tell the future and if you hit a server with enough requests then it will fall over
