The time is almost here for these foolish new year's resolutions. I always get asked what I will focus more on or do different in the year to come as we approach new year's eve, but I feel like it's a pointless question.

Why wait to do something on January 1 when you can do it as early as in September when you start thinking about the new year? If you started then you would sure be closer to that goal (such as loosing weight - a very common resolution), but like we all say, "not today, tomorrow". It's all procrastination.

Don't get me wrong, it's good to set goals, but it does not make sense to set a specific date for when to begin working on those goals if you can do so already.

One frustrating outcome from these resolutions is the chaos it brings to the gym in early January... I stand in line to use the equipment, while in December there's only a handful of people in the entire center.

Does anyone else share the same opinions? Anyone who disagrees? Anyone who also experience frustrating outcomes?

I agree, but I understand why people make them on New Years as well, and refrain from making them before.
It could all be chalked up to procrastination, but I think New Year brings a strong symbolic sense of renewal to people's lives, like having a fresh start.

Tying it to a memorable date or event, and knowing that millions of other people are also making changes, makes it easier to go through with it.
It feels more like something that you have to do, rather than something you could do.

It's a bad habit, but when it comes to a Near Years Resolution, which is just a formality now anyway, it's not that big of a deal.

Go to a different gym, if people want to try and workout but then realize its not for them then so what.

New Years resolutions are stupid, if youre going to do something or set a goal you should do it asap unless its a long term goal.

Why put something off for tomorrow when you can do it today?

Dang bro you get that $200k TV ?
lol anyways, i don't thinkthis is that bad for some people, and in most times actually good to set a goal.

My new years resolution is to save up my money instead of spending it right away,
