The reason I got into anime was rather boring. I used to enjoy crime dramas on cable, and in the summer of 2011 I had just caught up on the one I was watching at the time. I didn't feel like trying to find another show to watch on cable since it was annoying, so I was looking around online for something else to watch and eventually found ToraDora somehow (I can't for the life of me remember how it ended up being that, I found it on my own). Ended up enjoying it a lot, watched something else after that, I forget what, and eventually started to branch off into different genres.
Though it definitely helped a lot that my roommate one year prior was a huge weeb, I doubt I would've even considered anime otherwise.

Does anyone remember watching Toonami when they was a chittlin? Well that's how I was introduced to animay. Naruto, One Piece, Inuyasha and Bo Bo Bo is pretty much what I watched as lil Saki.
I was then introduced to ecc-
I stumbled across Death Note and took a liking to that and then I just kinda went on a journey to find streaming sites that had decent stuff to watch.
Fast forward about 7 years and here I am watching a classical music anime that Naggy so graciously recommended me. It's got instruments and stuff.. and mayonnaise I think.
How did I get here? What is this I'm feeling?

One day, 2 years ago, I was sitting on Netflix with nothing to watch. And my sister goes "hey, you should watch this anime I used to watch. It's amazing." Now, I was very skeptical at first but after a few days I was persuaded into watching. The show was Fullmetal Alchemist. I loved it to death. And now here I am reading anime forums and always looking for new shows.
Thanks sis.
Thanks sis.

Mine started awhile back in August 10th 2014 the day I got a girlfriend (recently broke up) she was all into anime and encouraged me to watch Black Butler. I didnt but I was watching Narutoo (didnt know it was an anime till her) so my ex had sean/emo style short pink hair. Her friend Hannah said watch this anime. The anime was and still my FAV {Marai Nikki AKA The Future Diary} It reminded me of Alaura.. Yuno Gasai is just like her just not homocidal but Alaura is a Yandere very clingy. Im now hooked on anime. Romance anime that is. Thats how mine started.

I originally got into anime seriously in late 2011. I walked into a conversation between a bunch of people i barely knew and they where chatting about a show called "Infinite Stratos" and mentioned that it was an anime, i remembered enjoying shows such as Inuyasha and Gundam Seed at an early age so i decided to join the conversation and ask if they could give me the show via USB to try out. When i got home and watched the first episode i got hooked and ended up watching the series through twice in that single afternoon. I then became friends with these guys via a mutual hobby and was given shows such as HOTD, Death Note, Naruto, Hidan no Aria and Baka to Test, i was typically watching ~7-12 episodes per afternoon because i had absolutely nothing else to do. This more or less continued for 6 months until i developed a taste and stopped relying on these individuals to give me shows. Around that time my favorite genre was romance and school life
In 2012 i was at around 20 days of anime watched and was a huge weeaboo by definition of the word (to the point that i changed my TTG name to Katsumi). It was around this time where i stumbled across the original anime thread on TheTechGame (~1st thank masterrace~) and decided to post on it, turns out that chatting with others about anime was a lot of fun. At this time that main people posting where myself, iKaros, Linx and Yukihime and we would just talk about what we have watched and throw recommendations each-others way while laughing at the "lol u watch anime u r a nerd" posts that came up every now and then. As time went on thread regulars came and went but the most notable long term ones are Evigishki for his sublime lack of skill in fighting games, de4nz for his potatoes, Waifu for his circlejerking, NASA for his all around horrendous taste and Activez- for being bad at gears. Also Naggy for being the one mod who watched anime at the time. We also made a Skype group where we all talk about how much our parents hate us and lets not forget about NASA's substantial contributions that reveal that he is truly one of the great minds of our generation
Fast forward to 2014 and now i am here. 14,000 posts on an internet forum site, 110 days of anime watched and avidly disappointed parents, yes... i have truly come far. But in seriousness myself and many members of the anime skype group have recently graduated highschool over the last 1-2 years, which is quite crazy seeming that we where all in highschool when the group was started. We also got an anime section which is pretty cool. Hoping to see the sites anime following continually grow into the future
Will update with screenshots when i am not hung over if anyone cares. For now i'll leave you with one

My brother who is ten years older then me used to watch Dragonball & Dragonball Z I was like 5 at the time and I loved it. Rewatched it many times over the years. When I was about 10-12 can't quite remember but Inuyasha came on Adult swim. I was lucky and caught the first episode of its first release and I was hooked on the story. I still just thought it was a more adult themed cartoon didn't know what anime was. I went to school and in class some kid was drawing Inuyasha and it was really good, so I said you watch Inuyasha too? He replied yeah I really like it and some other anime. I was like what is anime and he explained. So I went home and found Gundam G, Yu Yu Hakusho. A couple years went by and my anime life didn't expand much, till I discovered Death Note, I watched it and was hooked by its Intellectual plot and I began looking for something similar and I found Code Geass, then SAO, Angel Beats, and to this day I've watched about 200+ anime. Which isn't that many comparably to some but I've only been watching anime religiously for about 2-3 years now and it all started with some kid drawing in my class lol. Funny how small things can change someone's life and he will never know how he changed mine.
