for your first design it is good! but here are some tips to make it look better, try adding a light source somewhere to give it more depth, and the sub font that kinda fades behind the main font try lowering the opacity on the because it kind of throws off the main font, and the flare behind everything looks good but I would of made that a little bit less noticeable or would of blended it in some more. hope those tips help, if you want you could try adding all that and post it again and see what it looks like! good job man

For your first time? That's pretty good, I see you were playing around with some of the blending options. A tip though, I would use texture like that personally. I find texture, unless fitting with the background, to be grotesque. Other than that looks good, very minimal.
