Sure it takes out soundwhores but who cares? if someone wants to buy an expensive headset or whats to use their personal surround sound system then let them, they want to get more immersed into a game.
But taking out enemy sounds makes the game even more unrealistic than it already is. And capturing objectives is retarded when someone can come up right behind you without a single sound other than their knife in your back or shot through your head.

They can be heard its not like MW3 sit-rep loud, also the use of a mini map can help. You can also here the exo when the jump, this also makes them visible on the map so id say its pretty balanced!

They can only be heard if within a very small vicinity of you. Exo moves are also the same way just a bit bigger area that their footsteps, and most people are or should be running blast suppressor so that doesnt show them on the map, and the main reason i disagree with what you said was that you said the sound is balanced, when you walk its loud, when a teammate walks its definitely audible even from a long distance, and the enemy footsteps are not heard at all practically unless as i said in very close range.
This really destroys being able to become immersed into a game.

and as i was saying about their footsteps not being heard unless in a very close proximity, I'm running astro a40's with mixamp pro, can turn it all the way to game volume and crank it all the way up, try protecting a bomb i planted in search and still hear nothing other than the shots from when they spot me

I own the a40s as well and you cannot honestly tell me that you can hear everyone decently other than if they are in a very short distance from you, and EVERYONE will agree that the sound values between 1)yourself 2)teammates and 3) enemies are equivalent whatsoever.

1. When you're walking its very loud
2. When a teammate is walking next to you its at a normal volume and when they are far away its not as loud but still pretty audible
3. When an enemy is close to you its about the same volume as the teammates halfway across the map

Yep. I also use the A40's.

The sound is garbage in this game and the most unbalanced thing about AW.

I sound like an elephant. My team mates footsteps are just ridiculous, and I'd probably say enemy footsteps are about 1/4 of the volume of my own, but made worse because of other in-game audibles and my own footsteps.

The only thing that prompts me to enemies is, my eyes - obviously, anyone that's not running cold blooded, low-profile or blast suppressor and appears on the mini-map/name tag above head. And Exo-Movement blast sounds.

Anyone who says they get kills by hearing enemy footsteps is a liar.
