Game Modes
Competitive
Unlike casual mode, competitive mode always pits two teams of 5 against each other in a 30 round match. It is not possible to switch sides during the game except at the halftime. After the first 15 rounds, the game reaches halftime and the two teams will switch sides. The first team to score 16 points wins the game. If both teams score a total of 15 points by the end of the 30th round, the match will end in a tie. Games can also end prematurely if one team surrenders to the other. A vote to surrender must be unanimously agreed upon, and the vote is locked until a team member abandons the match.
Deathmatch
Prior to Global Offensive, several deathmatch mods were available, giving players the option to have a free-for-all deathmatch or team deathmatch elimination or point-based team deathmatch. Global Offensive's deathmatch mode, introduced on November 12, 2012, is a team deathmatch without any primary objectives, such as planting/defusing the bomb or rescuing hostages. Instead, players are required to eliminate enemies on the opposing team. After 10 minutes have elapsed, the round is over and the player with the most points will be displayed as the winner alongside 2nd and 3rd place.
Hostage Rescue
Hostage rescue is a game mode where the main objective for the Counter-Terrorists is to rescue the hostages. Terrorists must prevent them from doing so. Hostage rescue maps are prefixed with "cs". Generally, the hostages are placed near the Terrorist spawn. To rescue the hostages, the Counter-Terrorists must interact with them (by walking up to a hostage and pressing the use key) and lead them to the hostage rescue zone, usually located near the Counter-Terrorist spawn. The secondary objective, which also secures a victory for either team, is to eliminate all members of the opposing team. If the round time expires, the Terrorists win by default.
If all the surviving hostages have been rescued, and that number is at least half of the initial hostage count, the Counter-Terrorists will win, and each Counter-Terrorist is given a monetary reward. The game mode may effectively become a 'terrorist hunt' if all hostages are killed. Killing a hostage by either side usually incurs a large amount of stiff penalty in cash, and will sometimes garner a slaying, kick, or ban from the server.
When a Counter-Terrorist begins interacting with the hostages, they will be rewarded a small sum of cash. Upon successfully escorting a hostage to a rescue point, a much greater sum is awarded to the individual Counter-Terrorist.
Arms Race
The goal of Arms Race is to score a kill with the Gold Knife. Buy menus are unavailable and money will not be rewarded, weapons cannot be thrown away and will disappear as soon as their user dies. Instead, players spawn with the weapon on their current level and the knife, and will receive a different weapon ("level-up") when they score kills, the gold knife is the final weapon a player can receive. When a player receives the gold knife and made a kill with it, the player's team will win the game.
Players are able to respawn upon death and do not lose their current/previous weapon upon respawn. Upon respawn, the player will receive a short respawn protection time to prevent spawn camping.
Players can lose a weapon level if they are killed with a knife by a player who is not yet on the gold knife round, when they kill a teammate, or by killing themselves (usually, by falling).
There is no time limit for this scenario. Rounds may last one minute or even 10 minutes, depending on the amount of players and the map size.
It is possible to dominate enemies in this game mode and earn a "killing spree" when a player successfully eliminates 4 or more enemies. The message "[player name] is on a killing spree!!!!!!" is seen to all players when the player earns a killing spree.
As of November 11, 2014, a major overhaul to the Arms Race scenario was made. The weapon assortment is now randomized, although the Gold Knife retains its place as the last kill to win. However, the category of weapons are kept constant which is:
3 SMGs
4 Rifles
2 Shotguns
2 Sniper Riles
1 Machine Gun
4 Pistols
Furthermore, akin to some gun game mods, it is required to earn 2 kills per weapon (excluding the Gold Knife) to level up.
Casual
Much like previous games, casual mode allows a default maximum of 16 players per team on either bomb defusal or hostage rescue maps. Unlike previous games though, the game is limited to a maximum of 15 rounds. Although casual mode has no half time, players are free to switch sides during the game, provided there is room on the opposing team. The first team to score 8 points wins the game, with no possibility of a tie. Casual games can end prematurely if a change map vote succeeds, which will also cancel out any active mission points gained during the match.

Tips and Tricks
Here's a video which will assist you on how to aim with AK-47 and M4A1-S. Aiming with AK-47 ain't easy, and it has a specific recoil pattern. So does m4a1-s, but however, it is more accurate.

The CSGO Lounge is a place where CSGO players hangout, trade, and bet on their favorite Pro Teams. Yes, I said bet.
You can use your own CSGO items to bet against pro teams, if you win. You could get a big payout with better skins than you bet. If you lose, you will not win anything and someone who won will get your skins.
You can also trade with other players, thousands of trades are done each and everyday from CSGO Lounge, and each time you refresh the page, you will most likely see 20+ more trades.
But, be cautious of scams.
Cases and Keys
Cases are weapon cases that contain various different types of weapons. You could get a $0.12 skin, or if you are extremely, extremely lucky, you could walk away with a knife worth over $400+.
Opening cases is sort of like gambling, you have no idea what you are going to get. You know that you will get something, but more than likely, it will not be worth it.
Cases are only opened using Case/Container Keys. Unlike cases/containers, which can be earned in-game from item drops. Key can not. You have to either buy them from the market, from the CSGO home page, or from skins for them. (I recommend buying them from the CSGO Home Page, they are $2.50 which is less than they go for on the Steam Market, most of the time.
Opening cases can be very rewarding, but you could lose a lot of money doing so.
As I said before, cases can be earned for free, for just playing the game. But you must buy keys. And buying them is not cheap, one key only opens one case.
I found this website which is a Case Opening Simulator. I thought it was fair, and equal to opening real cases. It will show you what you can earn from opening the different types of cases, and it will tell you how many you've opened, how much you would have spent opening them for real. And the amount the winnings you got from the cases.
Here is a list of all the different cases available to open:
CS:GO Weapon Case
CS:GO Weapon Case 2
CS:GO Weapon Case 3
eSports 2013 Case
eSports 2013 Winter Case
eSports 2014 Summer Case
Huntsman Weapon Case
Operation Bravo Case
Operation Breakout Weapon Case
Operation Phoenix Weapon Case
Operation Vanguard Weapon Case
Winter Offensive Weapon Case

Skins
Skins can be bought from the market, traded for, opened in cases, or won from bets.
Some skins are more common than others, here is a scale for the skin rarity;
White - Consumer Grade (Worst)
Light Blue - Industrial Grade
Darker Blue - Mil Spec
Purple - Restricted
Pinkish Purple - Classified
Red - Covert
Yellow - Exceedingly Rare (Best)
Skins also have different conditions. If the skin is in good condition then you can see the skin will little to no scratches on it. If it has a lot of scratches, then it is less desirable, and looks worse.
Here are the different types of conditions, from worst to best;
Battle Scarred (BS) [Worst]
Well Worn (WW)
Field Tested (FT)
Minimal Wear (MW)
Factory New (FN) [Best]

Skimmed through, looks like a nice topic, I'll be sure to check back. Nice work.
Edit: May I suggest adding an explanation to the money system. How to get money, how to budget, what everything costs, etc.
Yea, I could do that. I'm not going to go through the cost of every item, skin, etc... because that would just be ridiculous.
But I can add some stuff concerning the market.
Think he meant in Competitive mode..
The price of each weapon, what "eco" means, what weapons to buy & when, stuff like that.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I will get going on that too.
Also wanted to say, I added a small section under 'Skins' for StatTrak info.

this is the Launch Parameters I use
-novid -tickrate 128 -high
Here's what they do:
-novid Removes the Valve intro on start up, so the game starts up a lot faster.
-tickrate 128 If you create an offline server with no bots it will run at a 128 tickrate.
-high Sets the game priority to High, helps with Lag/Fps.
Anything else just ask.
