Hello everyone.
Let me just start by saying I'm not new to building computers, and my computer is all self built. The problem is that when it comes to things this picky/detailed, I'm really not sure which one would provide a bigger boost for games at 4K.

Current Processor:
Intel i5-2320 (4 CPUs)@ 3.0Ghz

Current Video Card:
AMD Radeon R9 270 (not 270X, just 270)

Upgrading RAM is not an option (already got 16GB), Crossfire/SLI is not an option (motherboard only has one PCI-E x16 slot), and another physical processor is not an option (motherboard only has one physical processor slot).

Basically, if I were to have two computers of the exact same specs as stated above, and replace the processor of one to the best-in-the-market for gaming, and replace the video card in the other one to best-in-the-market for gaming, which of those two computers would overall have higher framerates with equal game settings between them?

Thank you.

What do you hope you gain from the upgrade? Those specs aren't bad but if you want to tell us all the components you have then a case or PSU upgrade might be useful.

Sorry, 4K gaming, forgot to say. Added to first post.

PSU is fine, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Case.... I'm pretty sure the one I have is fine, but since I'm wanting 4K gaming, it's the least of my concerns now. It's a gaming-focused PC case from 2009.

I dont know how you somehow have 4 CPU's with only one CPU slot on your motherboard.

It means 4 CPU Cores, to the above poster.

You can change to a stronger GPU, or the newer Haswell i5's depending what your budget is.

So if I were to upgrade to the best Haswell i5, or get the Radeon R9 290X, which do you think would be better in my case for gaming?

A Graphics card would probably be best in you case, what is your budget.

Pretty much infinite.... Won a bet with a friend, loser has to buy a new computer hardware piece for the winner. "Any part, any price" was the agreement, excluding monitors/tv's/"things to display the....display with".

That sounds incredibly silly, in that case grab a nice Haswell i7 AND a graphics card. Something like the GTX980 will do lovely.

It was a big bet, but I only accept bets I'm 100% sure on, so.... yea.

Deal was for any part, not any parts though. Only one.
