As some of you know, I own and DD a 2009 Pontiac G8. I bought it last April and plan on keeping it for as long as possible. I am upside down on the car, and selling it won't get me much. So I made the decision to keep her. My old post was closed for some reason so I am starting a new one.

Here are some pics of her

These are the only ones I have on my PC for now, I have more on my phone.

3/18/15 Update: On my way home from work this morning and was driving through a construction zone. The semi in front of me swerved over into left lane (right lane was closed) and there was this big piece of plastic or something in the road. I ended up hitting it and it ripped part of my bumper off. Edit: $3800 in damages. Here is a pic below

Just bought a new Sonoma on 3/16/15 for a V8 swap instead of the G8. Follow that thread here - Sonoma Build

LS3 swap, not LS2.

Exhaust/tune is pointless on the V6.

Wait till you swap it then spend your money on bolt ons.

If you are to LS3 swap it, Kooks headers and Corsa exhaust is the perfect setup.

I'd go wider wheels and probably up a size on the wheels.
Tint windows.
Then leave it alone...

Nobody has ever done a LS3 swap on a V6 G8. Only one guy has done the LS2 swap. There would be way too much money into it for a LS3. And yeah I will wait on the exhaust and everything after I do the swap but some of the CAI will be a must. Trying to get the most out of her while I can keep her. The Liquid red looks amazing on G8's is the reason for that. I already have Spyder tails. Might ditch the Holden wing.

you would end up saving money to trade in and get the v8 instead of a swap. And these wheels and set up in all is a nasty g8!!! those are BBS wheels

I got it for $16,500 with 73,000 miles. The loan brought it up to $21,000. Which is why i'm so under on the car. I was thinking about trading it in for the GT model once I can shed some off of the loan. I'm still going to buy these parts though because they are compatible with all models on the G8 chassis.

And to put it into perspective, I still have $18k on my loan. She has 86k miles on her right now, which KBB prices at around $10,702. I put miles on like crazy too. So if I save up $100/week like I usually do, plus my tax return that's around $6-$7k. Which is how much the V8 swap costs. It would take me longer to knock the loan down to the point where I can trade it in than it would to swap the V8 in. That is my reasoning behind the GT swap.

Is this a car you're going to keep for 5+ years?

Probably not, i'm going to flip it here in a couple years. I might hold off on the V8 swap. I just went and looked at some Jeep GC SRT8's yesterday. I think i'm going to be getting one here in the next couple years.

Yeah, I think by Summer of next year I should have one. I mean, look at my name. I am a big Mopar fan, and I always have loved the GC SRT8's since they came out. I like the Trailblazer SS but I am more of a Fiat-Chrysler group guy. So the GC SRT8 would be my next choice for sure.
