My car is a 2001 mercury grand marquise. I have babied the **** out of it since i first got it. It is now in my driveway for a week now without starting. It will turn over and just cut itself off. It has had a recent oil change, plenty of gas and no check engine light is on. PLEASE HELP

Dead battery maybe? If your in the part of the world where its freezing balls out it may just be too cold out. More than likely your car is dead though. Just give it a jump.

Its not the battery because it will turn on. Then a second later cut off. If it was the battery it would do that whiny noise when you're trying to crank it right?

Your alternator may be bad in the car.

Id replace the ol' battery, if the battery is very low/dead/ it will cut off & retain a small amount of time on.

Nuff salad more creamy potatoes.

I agree, you might have a bad alternator. Are your lights dim? Or do they dim when the car is dying?

Yes, try replacing the battery first. Still an issue, could be the alternator.

the alternator isnt charging the battery so when you turn it over is killing its battery then going off. get the alternator checked and ALL your fuses done because one may be tripping the rest for some reason can happen on older cars

If your power sources aren't it, check your fuel pump

when it actually starts, how long until it dies? Does it idle for a few seconds or just immediately die?
