I am writing a paper on whether torture is ever justifiable. I was curious to see everybody's opinion. Is torture ever justified? If so, why and when? If not, why not?

Dude, this paper is based off of your own opinion. Not ours.
What do you think? Tell me and I'll give you ideas to support your case.

IMO If torturing one subhuman scum can save lives by the information extracted, it's worth it.

I agree if torture saves lives and gets answers out of scum then go ahead

I can't say "no", but the chances it being a situation where you would need to is very, very low in my opinion. The person has to be a threat, and there has to be 100% guarantee that he has the information that you need to save lives. It is that 100% guarantee that may be rare to find. I would say torture is almost never justifiable.

Honestly I would say no. This is inhumane. In some places, torture is the norm though. But in most developed countries, torturing is ethically and morally wrong.
