For some reason, since installing Windows 8.1 Pro (Legitmate copy I received from Microsoft), I've been experiencing brief periods of 100% disk usage on my SSD only.

Is this a known error with the system or could my SSD possibly be on its way out?

SSD's are more reliable the HDD, but sometimes you'll get one with a short lifespan due to manufacturing error. If you get 100% usage hangtimes, I'd run a few performance checks on it and post results below

Could possibly be a malicious file using it. Try running a scan with malwarebytes in safe mode.

I'd suggest following this guide already if you haven't any user with a SSD should do this.

Mine is like 3-4 years old now. I doubt I'd still be under warranty for a replacement.
