Being a gold member you should only have 2 ads, one on the homepage and one on the footer.

Normal users yes do have ads to pay for the site.

A site this large has expenses greater than dales liquor tab.

Adblock my friend. This is how you avoid them. Ads are a good and bad thing. Bad because they are annoying, but good because they help support the site.
