AVG is free as far as I know. (:
But you've got to know that paid software is more likely to be better.

I technically don't use any anti virus I just use malwarebytes and don't download anything too shady and if I do I immediately run a scan before opening and running what I download. Honestly even if you have anti virus already go download malwarebytes. It can detect trojans and other viruses that most other anti virus software can't

I don't use antivirus personally, but if I did, and I wanted one of the free ones, I'd go the AVG Free Total Security Many options on their site, browse a bit
