I'm at a point where I just can't understand a lot of games on the market. Basically all sports games, FIFA, NHL, Madden, NBA, MLB, and even WWE and racing games... just have way too much DLC. I mean, I remember the good old days where you payed for the game once and that was it. Now, you have Ultimate Team on EA's 3, which is their only game mode that they focus on - and it's just to monetize. I personally prefer to play as myself (Like a virtual pro) and make a team with my friends and play others online. NHL 13 was perfect for this, absolutely perfect. Then I got next gen and it's gone? But Ultimate Team is still there...surprise surprise. I knew somebody who spent over 20 grand on FIFA 14 alone! I mean, think if that's one person making EA that kind of money then imagine how much they're actually making. I mean MLB the show money is just a shortcut, you can actually earn everything without paying, but Madden, FIFA and NHL? No way! They literally have packs that can only be bought with real money! Which is disgraceful, the Ultimate Team modes ARE very fun. But I prefered FIFA 09 UT. Where you couldn't spend real money, and you actually had to earn the packs and what not. Now there's coin trading for EA's games literally everywhere! Money for it, I just think that games that you have already paid for should not include microtransactions like these! Because Madden packs for sure make you almost need to buy them, I think that if they are going to keep these game modes, then they should restrict either the game or game mode to an 18. Seeing as buying packs is actually a form of gambling, and it does actually make people addicted to it, hence why they buy them, I guess! I do play Ultimate Team on Madden, because it's genuinely quite fun. But I am always at a major disadvantage compared to everyone else because I don't spend my real money on it. It takes me absolutely ages to get a decent team and packs are hardly worth it.


I'm pretty sure I worked out that FIFA Ultimate Team (On FIFA 13, anyway) is almost impossible to play without spending money, because by the time you have enough for a few packs you have no contracts left - so you either have to spend pack money on contracts constantly, and not buy any new players. Or buy the packs, and not have a complete playable team. Which really does suck! Anyone else want to see games like this start to transition out?


TL;DR because it seems like nobody's reading it properly: I can't stand games that are pay-to-play and also pay-to-win. Games that make you pay to play the game, and to win at the game
