Well, I live in southern California where it is summer almost year round, except for right now basically and I never see girls' bellies no matter where I go unless it is at the beach (obviously). Not at college, not at work, not at the mall, nor at a restaurant. And if I do, I can tell they're the types of girls that are most likely on the wrong path.

That's just my two cents on the matter though, since you asked. As everyone else said, you should just do what you want no matter what anyone thinks or say besides yourself. In reality, we all don't really care either.

Go for it. My girlfriend and bestfriends have them and they look pretty nice.
