in my opinion it would be the right thing to keep it regardless of the situation i would anyway because they're obviously giving it to you because they feel you deserve it and that want to be kind and help you out with a little cash if someone gave me 1k right now i would take it no doubt then simply thank them and maybe pass my kindness on to the next person and keep a chain going
