I'm wondering what kind of overclock I could expect on a Intel i5 4690k using this cooler?

I wouldn't even bother if I'm honest...

That cooler isn't meant for overclocking such high end CPU's.

Wait till you got a better one on top of it.

I already have the cooler (long story) so I was just wondering? I'll be happy if I can hit a stable 4.0 until I can get something better

Yeah I suppose. Just waiting for my CPU to come in on tuesday


Edit: I could return it...but I don't know if its worth the hassle.

You could return the cooler? I would. It doesn't perform much better than Intel's stock cooler. As for overclocking, we can't tell you, we can't really estimate either, it completely depends on your individual CPU, each CPU will OC differently.

If the overclock that you're going to get from it is very minor then you might as well just send it back and use the stock cooler until you can pickup a better aftermarket one. Either way it isn't going to stop you from building your computer as you'll have the stock cooler there which will suffice if you can hold off on overclocking.

Why would you not build your rig because you don't have a £15 cooler? Use stock cooler which performs slightly worse. Either way, you will want a better cooler if you're overclocking.

I actually have one of these coolers in my draw and used it for the Pentium for a short while.

Even though it wasn't properly mounted, it held up well. You will be able to OC on it. Only you will be able to measure how much though.

Personally, Id keep it for a while then when you can afford to upgrade it, upgrade to a AIO cooler if that's where you want to go with it.
