When a movie comes out about the Americans losing, they love it, but anything positive gets labeled as pro-war propaganda.

Chris Kyle did what he had to in order to save American troops' lives.
He's a hero.

You literally have to bring politics into every single comment you make and I strongly dislike you for your over the top conservative views.

Politics doesn't have anything to do with this. I'm a democrat and I don't view Chris Kyle as a "murderer" what so ever.

Politics has everything to do with this.
The sole reason this movie is getting so much hate is because of the war in question and the legality of it.

And honestly, I couldn't give two shits if you don't like me.

it is sad to see that people are calling him a cold blooded murderer, he took lives to save the lives of his brothers in arms and the men and women he did save got to go back to there family's.

he is a hero and always will be.

DrConspiracy1 wrote Chris Kyle, AKA the legend. One of the most lethal snipers in U.S. military history . A lot of speculation around Chris whether he was a hero or a stone cold murderer, he has over 160 confirmed kills! In an interview he stated that he liked killing people and if his family didn't need him back home he would go back for more. Is the U.S. military just full of sociopaths and evil people or are they genuinely people who want to help the country? What are your thoughts?

By definition he is not a murderer. As long as he carried out his duties within the ROE and he complied with the rules of land warfare he is not a murderer. The problem is that the lines were extremely blurred as to whom was an enemy combatant during OIF and OEF. They came in all shapes, sizes and genders. The enemy that was faced was not always readily noticeable and sometimes would shock even the most hardened soldier. Kids of all ages along with women, even ones that could be your grandmother were used for all sorts of nefarious activities, to include being used as IEDs. Animals were even used, mules especially, with explosives tied to their bodies.

With that in mind now think of what was faced by the US military, and for the sake of this argument, Chris Kyle. He had to make snap decisions on whether to take a shot at someone who may or may not be a threat to his fellow countrymen or allies, that alone will take its toll on anyone. The psychological impact of watching your buddies maimed or die is horrible and you do what you have to do to make sure that doesn't happen. As a soldier you are taught to "locate, close with, and destroy the enemy" that is your main job, you don't think of them as people, you think of them as threats, either they are a threat or they're not. It doesn't matter if they are a kid, woman, teenager, old man or the hottest looking chic that you ever saw in your life, if they pose a threat to you and your team then they should be engaged. To give you some history of this the first time this was really faced was during Operation Gothic Serpent, in Somalia, where US forces had to engage people that weren't your usual combatant. At times it was seen, by multiple people, that a Somalian would hold a few women and children in front of them and shoot. This caused guys to make a very difficult decision. That type of combat has continued on to OIF and OEF. Our enemy puts NO value on human life, they don't care who they hurt or who they kill. That is what Chris Kyle had to contend with. I believe his comments where to the fact that he was good at his job and that he was dedicated to protecting his fellow soldiers and sailors with all of his might and skill. Every combatant that he killed was another less threat to his guys and probably one of the thoughts that kept him sane. I didn't know the man and I don't speak for him, but that is what goes on through my head and some guys that I have talked to about this subject. I believe he was suffering from a form of survivors guilt that plague a great number of veterans. Alot of guys, Chris Kyle included, believe that any time they were not outside the wire with their buddies they were letting them down. That is Brotherhood, not a mental condition. The bond that is forged in combat is among the strongest in the world. It is said that "family isn't about who shares the same blood, but who is willing to bleed for you" that sums up combat units. The military is not made up of psychopaths. Guys in a combat unit are very close and any type of that behavior would be recognized and reported. Psychopaths get people killed and their actions are never beneficial to the mission or the unit.

I agree for most part. If you looked at previous films like "Greenzone" "Camp X-Ray" and what they represented, it showed the military in a very negative light. Parts of the media, mostly the liberal outlets, showed large amounts of support for those projects. I think that this film shows an individual who was a very efficient killer, but stuck to his moral center, does not agree with their usual narrative.

Sorry for the long drawn out post.

I don't think the warriors are bad people I think they have just been broken down or stripped of who they are in boot camp then they are built back up as murderers that enjoy what their doing and then once their tour is over they can't adjust to society and the idea that murder is bad

While you are entitled to your opinion, I think you are completely wrong and way off base. How did you come to that conclusion? What experience or exposure do you have with the military? By that I mean what real life exposure do you have? Friend, family, live near a base/post?

You don't think they're bad people but you're calling them murderers? What? They're not murdering anyone if there is a purpose in the kill.

I'm sorry, but I must say, that's a little, you know.. I think this forum is for people to show their opinion, if he/she brings in politics, they can do that, because, it is their opinion. I have my opinions and beliefs and guess what, no one is going to change what I think. I can make my own mind up, I think Lavish can do that too.
