Every time I open a folder which has pictures associated with it, for example my films folder, I get this pop up with Bad Image dllhost.exe on top of it. It is related to a Programs(x86)/Windows Multimedia Platform/ sqmapi.dll error.
Now I am not sure if this is an actual virus or what but when I go into the folder all that is in it is a sqmapi.dll file. This pop up is driving me insane. Is it a virus or just an error. malwalwarebytes says everything is fine. Not much info online with regard to Windows Multimedia Platform. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If it's a virus/malware then malwarebytes should be able to away with that for you

If not then if you have a system restore point you could use that. Or do a fresh, clean install.

Did you give malwarebytes a try? And if you did, did it find anything?

I suggest booting up in safe mode with networking enabled before scanning with malwarebytes.

Yes I have scanned with Malwarebytes. Found Nothing. I will try booting in safe mode with networking and see what happens. I have seen some tutorials online about what it involves. At the minute trying a DISM Online Clean Up. See what happens. Thanks.

Try get the sqmapi.dll again, and re download it. You probably did it yourself or a program deleted it if malwarebytes is showingnothing.

It takes a lot more than that to remove an infection than to use malwarebytes, also why does everyone suggest re installing windows when malwarebytes fails? OP pm me I could talk you through a couple trouble shooting steps to help you resolve the problem.

I would suggest downloading Malware Bytes and running a 'Threat Scan' and let that find the malicious threats on your computer, and then i would run a scan on CCleaner and clean your computer out a little and then run the registry cleaner and clean the registry up abit.

Hope that was a bit of help,

Brap
