Does an SSD do anything besides load times?

I built a PC primarily for gaming and a friend of mine told me that he'd sell me a SSD. I don't have any adapters or a place to put the SSD and I really don't wanna spend more money on my PC if it isn't necessary for speed. Other than load times, which don't bug me right now

So back to the main question. does a SSD do anything besides load time, performance-wise?

Can someone put a link as to where I'd find a Sata & Power adapter for a 128 GB MX100 Crucial SSD?

Sata power, it comes on one cable with 3 or 4 power connectors on it, like this.

And Sata data cables look like this.

Note, colour may not be red and one end may be a right angle connector. There should be 2 or three that came with your mobo. Make sure to get at least 6BGB/S cables and plug it into a 6GB/S port.

You install it the same way you would if it was a primary drive. When the installation asks for a location to install to you choose the HDD instead of the SSD and that is it. Obviously if you want faster load times then you just install it to the SSD if you have the required space.
