As you guys know, the Halo fanbase has been slowly declining over the years.

I would like your guys' opinion:
Is Halo dead?
How much longer can it go on?
What do 343i as a company need to do to 'revive' Halo?

This is not a 'what would you like to see in H5' thread, this is asking what 343i as a company need to do to increase the amount of Halo gamers and restore Halo back on its throne as the No.1 FPS game.

Please do not moan about 343 or the Halo franchise, if you are going to criticise, make it constructive, you can make the point about what 343 are doing wrong, but then explain what they need to do to overcome this.

Gaming developers are looking for feedback all of the time when it comes to new games, while they may not express there gratitude, they appreciate ALL feedback that is given to them and are always looking for new ways to improve existing or future games!

I'll start:

Halo 2 was the game that more or less revolutionised Multiplayer and Competitive gaming, over the years, this aspect has dissapeared.
What do they need to do to improve?
Call of Duty games offer seperate playlists for competitive gamers, while this is implemented into Halo: MCC, the idea of it is too vague and it seems like a last minute idea.
A strong, stable and clear playlist should be added, with leaderboards.
For example, a division on BOII, holds 200 players, each players has to win games to gain ladder points and ultimately win in their division.

What can 343i as a company do to increase competitive popularity in Halo?
They need to sponsor more events, most halo tournaments are held by 3rd party companies. If 343i were to host their own tournaments, this would attract more players as I'm sure they could do a better job of rankings etc (As they have the power to edit the games they make)

This is just the start of what can be done to make the Halo franchise a more enjoyable and more popular experience.
343i are capable of doing things outside of their games (Halo 4, 5 and 6) to expand on what Halo is and what it can bring to us.

I know this is alot to read, I just really wanted to explain everything as much as I could

I feel Bungie need to come back, Halo 3 is the best game apart from COD4 i've ever played, it was soo good, and sooo fun, it was honestly amazing.

Please come back Bungie <3

I agree that Halo 3 was amazing, but that was partly to do with the amount of people that played it, if Halo 4 had that kind of attention, it would be great!

Bungie did an amazing job with Halo, and I believe 343i can do one aswell, it starts with the fanbase.

You could take the best MP game in the world, take away all of theh fans and then what is it?
This is what happened with Halo 4 (It may not be the best game in the world but its close enough;) )

What 343i needs to do is stop taking ideas from other gaming company and stick to their own originality; the only thing original about Halo now is the guns, characters, and maps. The game has lost it grip once they introduce the abilities such as sprint, shield, dodge, etc. They should go back old school and keep it simple like Halo 2 and 3.

In my opinion, 343 doesn't really need to do anything except go back to Halo's roots, and build a strong Halo game at the core. There's still countless Halo fans everywhere, and everyone just wants a Halo game that is solid. Halo: MCC was the key to getting people back in the game, but unfortunately 343 built the game weak at it's core, with seemingly infinite amounts of bugs. It's no longer the gaming community that's the problem, it's just the fact that we don't have stable development team behind us.

Please remember that this is my opinion, and do not believe I am necessarily right, nor wrong.

I agree, 343i just need to find the roots of Halo, this can be hard for them as Halo was first developed by Bungie.

343i will get there one day!

You guys already said what has to be done, and I agree. They still don't do it though. I really hope they listen really well to the feedback that they received for Halo 5 or else it will be no different than Halo 4, and possibly worse.

In my opinion I think the concept is just worn out at this point. Same goes for Call of Duty, but as it's more mainstream, it gets more attention. Still, the sales declines are there for both games. Bring change to the game. Not improvements on previous ideas but new concepts that make for a new experience but still gives a Halo type feel. After multiple Halo games, people just get "tired" of it. I could see the competitive aspect of Halo taking off but this would only be possible if they can make a great game that sparks interest to get sales and to get the community active again. Otherwise, it would probably just be a waste of time and resources to host tournaments. Used to love playing Halo 3, still do. Hopefully the next game will be great.

Imo theres no back to the throne for Halo. You cant have a slow paced Halo 2/3 like game with no sprint so you have to innovate and bring sprint but when you do that you lose the super majority of the Vets. I've been playing since July of '02 it is fair to say im a vetern player and i understand the addition of sprint but i wont support it or 343i in general.

The gaming world has been so saturated with FPS games and it has its staple 2. CSGO As the slow paced high action shooter and Call of duty the fast paced high action shooter so there's simply no place for Halo

While this may be the sad truth, i'm just really hoping that 343i can do something extraordinary for H5/Future titles.
