When it comes to computer temperatures, I know as much as a potato knows how to curb stomp a bird. My CPU is at 5c currently, is that too cold? i can easily buy a fan controller ( if that would even support a cpu cooler )

Thanks!

Lies. NO COMPUTER will reach those temperatures while running normally AT ALL. The average temperature for a computer like mine (Air cooled, plan to be water cooled) is usually the 40 degrees Celsius (103 degrees Fahrenheit) at full LOAD. At light load is usually 35 degrees Celsius(96 degrees Fahrenheit).

if its 5c there is something wrong you may want to look to see if the fans are correctly set

Looks like a sensor issue as your CPU won't go that low unless the room it is in is like 5c

AMD works out the temperature by a algorithm which isnt at all valid till you get to the mid 50 degrees. However, even here, it looks like you have a bad sensor.

You can even validate this by feeling around the CPU to see if its warm.

The lowest CPU temperature you can really get, without LN2, is to lower your room temperature. The CPU temperature can only go as low as the room temperature due to the air that the CPU is being cooled by. So unless your outside, I call either lies or a dodgy sensor.

Speccy is probably reading the CPU temp wrong from your motherboard. Use [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] or [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] or another better program.

TMPIN0 = Motherboard
TMPIN1 = CPU socket temp (between CPU and motherboard PCB)
TMPIN2 = Northbridge

Circuit performance increases as electrical resistance of the conductor decreases. There would be some calculus involved because there is a point at which the transistors would be too cold to function and the circuit wouldn't work with superconductive properties, but your temps are not nearly low enough to be too cold.

I Have that exact same CPU and it doesn't read the temps correctly either.

fix; install HWMonitor and look at the CPU temp indicator with the mobo temp, instead of the independent CPU temp.
