Although, this is entirely true. You make yourself as the user but in cases where theres users with 9-10 years on board or however many and they have a sick username but are still lurkers can be frustrating but you never know. They may return.. Unlikely, wouldn't hold your breath but it would be neat.

I see '2 years, 100 posts' I wouldn't let it get to you, posting is irrelevant as long as you get what you want when you sign on

9-10 years? Hold up, do you know how long TTG has been about? hahaha 9-10 years mate, "Joined: Wed. May 14, 2008 Sean has been a member for over 6 years 6 Year Member".

Besides, again having a great username is not a necessity it's a novelty.

hold up I know there was a "og name rant" I thought the conclusion was even if your name is "530112 gamer" its still og and no one cares and that we need to move on

Quote, unquote, "OG," names prove nothing more to me than exactly what "high post count," does. That user wants to be nominated, noticed, glorified or otherwise deemed a necessity by the online community.

Want to know ALL my past usernames? BiRiYiAiN, Vexatiion, Haunting, Seregor and then ripgut.

Just like my tattoos, they meant something to me, personally and I could care less what they mean to others.

People's fixation on attention and notoriety bugs me more than it should. I've legitimately gotten to the point of breaking something I own, or exerting physical aggression due to somebody's online actions.

This in itself is a problem I've been trying to address, along with my other "anger problems."

But, good god man, why does attention and popularity matter so much to some people?

Because its in the human nature to want or crave attention, just some people need it more than others.

Wins wrote Then a rant complaining about a stupid rant, nice!

My thing is who cares? There's more to life than the internet.

I completely agree with you, Wins. And while constructing this 'rant,' may be ultimately defeating the purpose of my own rants.. I felt the need to.

I'm a member on a laundry list of websites. Se7ensins, Neowin, Game Trading Zone.. and the list goes on for days. I've been on these sites about the same length, ever since I was able to 'freely,' access the internet.

While this is a "rant complaining about a 'stupid rant,'" this is also my freedom of voice and choice. Should somebody choose to oppose this, as I have done with the preceding, they are free to do so. That is what's great about the internet.

GT-R wrote Post count is just a number. The people who do this are literally the ones who absolutely enjoy dick measuring contests. At the end of the day your post count is nothing more than imaginary internet points that translate into absolutely nothing in the real world. Especially, when a good chunk of them are probably in the introduce yourself section with the usual generic "Welcome to ttg, read the rules, and stay active!". Not saying that you can't genuinely welcome people to the site of course. Just that its an obvious place to boost post count for those looking to do so.

It's not about the size it's how you use it, I guess this concept can apply for post count.
