Those RX8s require at least engine rebuilds or engine replacements at 80-100k. Every single one. Those rotors can be expensive to maintain, plus they have no power down low. I'd advise you find an RX7 because those are actually worth maintaining and keeping around.

The service charges are very expensive so I've been told and the comment above is the main reason for a NO answer

Great car, cool car, love it.

I own one.

One guy on this thread said you have to replace the motor every 80-100k miles, that is wrong.

You must, must, must take care of the motor! They are fragile, and I use that term loosely.

Rx-8s contain a rotary engine, this means you must RUN THE HELL OUT OF IT. This car loves to be driven past the red-line, and going 80-100 mph is like an orgasm for the cars motor.

The only thing that needs to be replaced after 80k miles is the apex seals as they become damaged over time, however you can buy performance apex seals that dont break, but that will run you to about $300.

Personally if you are willing to take care of the car then I would suggest buying it. Before purchasing it thought please take these steps into consideration...

- Let the car warm up before giving it any RPM's (reving it/giving it gas)
- Red-line twice a week
- Make sure you get atleast 20 minutes of major highway a week!
- NEVER, EVER, EVER turn the car off while its cold, you can flood it out by doing that.
- Run it hard.
- Replace the apex seals after 80k miles. 90% of rotary owners go through engines because they fail to replace the apex seals. If the seals were never replaced then damage to the motor may have already begun and it only gets worse from there.

110k miles is alot, in a way... if the last owner(s) did not take care of the car properly you could run into a problem very shortly. If you take care of this car, it will run you up to about 400k miles before needing to replace the motor in it.
