I still don't know if I should spend the extra $10. What if the guns are great and they nerf them. Also is it really 10 gold battle packs at the start?

I got the deluxe edition, I'm sure it will help if you actually play the game when it comes out. Probably will give you somewhat of an advantage over those that didn't purchase it in the beginning of the release.

Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition will net you three rifles that will be available to the Operator Class from launch day. The official Battlefield Twitter account has verified that these will be exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. Currently there is no information on the weapons themselves. Battlefield games "usually" have balanced weaponry and so it seems unlikely that the pre-order bonuses are overpowered.

And you will receive "10 Gold Battlepacks from launch".

I personally am not sure if it will be like battlefield 4 where if you get premium and they said you will get 12 gold battle packs but in reality you were given one each month for a year. So its either you will get 10 gold battlepacks right off the bat or over time.
