so I need a new computer, my laptop is starting to slow down after years of use and I just feel as though i need a desktop.
I realize that building on is preferential but I plan on using this computer for mostly Photoshop, video editing, netflix, and the occasional game here and there
so I guess what I am asking is, would it be worth the time i spend to build a computer or should I just buy one already pieced together from the electronics store?

It would be cheaper, and depending on your computer knowledge, easier.

Its always worth building your own no matter what your going to be using it for, its very easy to do and the people on here will help you find the right build for what you want and for your budget. I was in the same place as you as i used to just have a basic laptop but after the years it just ran really slow. If you play games often on console then you will like the games better on PC so i recommend building a PC suitable for gaming although you could always buy a graphics card in the future if you decided to but if games aren't your priority then just pick a good processor and 4-8 gb ram
EDIT: with premade systems it's not really about it being more expensive, its because your paying most of that money on the fancy case, brand and whatever else they decide to shove in there that doesn't effect the performance

Okay, That makes a lot of sense. I think I'm convinced about building my own now.
Thank you!
