I have a few favourite characters that are a little more memorable. Yoshi, Spyro.. But some more recent ones are.

Vass from Far Cry 3 was an all around amazing character. I never wanted him to stop talking!
(I recommend a look at the cutscenes if you don't intend to play or skipped them.)

The Joker in the Arkham Games, I feel sorry for people who missed these games. Easily one of my favourites!

Trevor from GTA, with all the insanity most players pull off.. It just feels so right to be a drug induced drunk redneck who could give to shits what you think about his actions.

I always say; Dom couldn't have thrown the truck into gear & hoped out? But he wanted to be with his wife, they always make one scene that could bust a tear

Ezio from the Assassins Creed Series is one of my all time favorites.

Then there is Ghost form the Call of Duty Franchise.

But my all time favorites are Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us.

Aha, I don't really consider him a video game character though, that's why I didn't chose him.
