I am currently building my new PC (photo work and gaming!)
and I have a budget of 1,790 (including keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor)
I have looked into GPU's for a long time and I am keeping with Nividia, but I am stuck between either a single 980GTX and overclock it or get two 970GTX's and sli run them? which would prove better? either way, if I went with a single 980GTX, I would most likely end up purchasing another one (two weeks wages and working overtime on weekends can afford one)
My current spec list follows as
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (not bought yet)
CPU COOLER: Corsair CW-9060014-WW Hydro Series H110 280mm Liquid Cooling (Bought this as one of the first things of the build, not skimping out on cooling
MOTHERBOARD: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (not bought yet, but debating a higher spec version...)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (latest thing I bought, was debating the 32gb upgrade for photos and rendering but 16gb will do nicely!)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (not bought this yet but I do have a samsung 250gb SSD for booting windows/my favorite games)
GPU: either 980gtx or sli 970gtx (question above)
CASE: NZXT H440 (black and red all the way, simply the best case imo)
PSU: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (if you's can recommend something better please do! 100 max!)

No idea why you'd buy a 4770k. 4790k is an improved 4770k for about the same cost anyway. I wouldn't have bought that cooler, but it'll be fine. I wouldn't waste so much on motherboard. Do not buy that PSU. We don't know your currency so can't recommend anything. The GTX 980 is not worth the extra cost over the 970 and SLI 970's out-performs a single 980.

It's wasted money. You can spend much less and get a motherboard that will still be perfectly fine. Again not sure what your currency is but in the UK, the HERO is £35 more expensive than the VII Ranger and just isn't worth the price premium over the Ranger. Even the Ranger is more than needs to be spent on a motherboard. $120 or £100 is more than enough for a good Z97 board.
