I would say the movie gave a very distorted image of the true chris kyle maybe he took to his role a little more than most but then you have to remember he was very patriotic so he gives more than others to protect and server his country i wouldn't brand him as a negative he still saved lives and in the army your trained to take lives so its just a circle

He was hero
Some of his men died out there
So he had to do what he had to and avenge them

The war was illegal. Chris shouldn't have been there to kill in the first place

The areas he served in were evacuated. Those who remained, most likely had links with the extremist-cell in the area.

He did what he had to do, even if it meant killing children.

Was he a sociopath? No, more psychologically troubled from the events that he witnessed (PTSD).

I think the people who serve in the military have a genuine love for their respective nation, and will do anything to protect it's interests/integrity.

My family has ties with the military that date back to the 19th Century. Nobody whom served in my family were physcopathic.

Chris Kyle was by no means a good guy. Many think of him as a hero, others disagree. Chris Kyle thought of his kills as a competition; he didn't think of the people he killed as an enemy, anyone he saw, he shot.

Chris Kyle is also a murderer. Revealed after his death, during the hurricane that hit New Orleans hard, Kyle was sniping and killing looters. He is also tied to manslaughter, as he shot and killed two people at a gas station. When the police arrived, he gave them a phone number and drove off.

Those last two things are lies that he made up to get more publicity.
