I want to have a seperate PC for working with photoshop and graphics work ect..

Would it be worth buying a Mac? Im on PC at the moment and I dont mind having a bit of both, would this be worth it?

I have a 2009 iMac with the same CPU as that just 8GB RAM.

It's by no means "fast" but the way OSX works means that it runs extremely smooth. It will handle Photoshop with ease, Video Editing I'm not sure. Core2 Duo's are pretty dated now.
