Am I the only one who stands on both sides? I prefer AMD for workstation/high power activities. Then I use Nvidia for Gaming (If I can)

So what side are YOU on? Post your opinion and vote for the poll!

I'm on the side of whichever product performs great for a reasonable price.

AMD drivers are pretty jank though, so i tend to take that into consideration before buying.

"What fanboy are you(NO FANBOYS THOUGH)"

Get whatever is best for your budget, regardless of brand. AMD don't have any good higher end CPUs at the moment. AMD GPUs tend to be louder and hotter than their NVIDIA counterparts but not by much. I just want AMD to release some nice enthusiast grade stuff, like a nice CPU.

They don't "tend" to be hotter it's only because Nvidia focused on effiency this cycle that it all a sudden matters on how much power shit pulls ect..

The Fermi series Nvidia cards could barley keep them selves from throttling but it was "okay".

The 290 at the moment is the best bang for the buck card without a doubt (Coming from a 970 owner) Also Ati's drivers are ahead on linux and have been openly pushing for improvements for Dx12 which can't be really said for nvidia who have ruined every game they put "nvidia works" into.

Let me tell you how CPU/GPU temps work.

It doesn't matter if the circuit gets hot, it matters if it gets out of it's safe operating temp range. Different circuits will have different operating temps depending on how they are designed. I'm not a computer engineer working for Intel/AMD/ATI/Nvidia, so I don't know what specifically makes one of their circuits run hotter than another (not that you actually want a technical explanation at that low level of abstraction).

AMD Vishera CPUs have a TJMax (thermal junction max, the point at which the CPU will throttle to maintain safe operating temp) of 70C while a Haswell CPU has a TJMax of 100C. Haswell runs MUCH hotter than Vishera, but does that make Haswell inferior?

You're confusing DIFFERENT design with BAD design.

r00ty...

That's why it's impossible to ask the question of which is better.

It's more the "Best Performance per $ Spent."

Usually this means AMD because they're generally cheaper and perform just as well as Intel/Nvidia.

However, this does not mean personal opinions are out of the picture.

I personally, have used both AMD CPU/GPUs and Intel/Nvidia CPU/GPUs.
I can say from my experience Nvidia has a better time with manufacturing errors such as DOAs.
I have purchased 3 AMD CPUs in which 2 of them arrived DOA, bad luck me.
I have purchased 2 Intel CPUs in which 0 of them arrived DOA, good luck me.

I'm not saying Intel is better because for me I had no issues, believe me I've read the DOA stories all over reddit.

Personal Opinion matters. It ALWAYS will. However, we can't let it cloud our judgment and say "I can only go with AMD because Nvidia sucks."

That's when we cross from an Opinion to trash. An Opinion needs to be thought out or else it's useless.

r00t, there's no point in trying to reach out to hardcore fan-boys. It will only end with "My side is better because the other side sucks!"

Personally I like Nvidia, for the reasons that, there cards, are normally great not only in gaming, but also, in the work field.

Just posting so people will see it; not trying to prove anything to anyone. These are not harcore fanboys, they just don't really know what they're dealing with.

After building dozens of PCs with AMD, Intel, ATI, and Nvidia and having zero DOA components, I'm inclined to think that most DOAs are just user error.
